Your moment, our beer mat frame

Cologne, we have something for you! The best memories are made over a freshly tapped Kölsch, good conversation, and the people you love spending time with most. And so that you can not only experience these moments, but also capture them creatively, we now have our new special beer coaster.

And now for the most important tip:
<strong>At Gaffel am Dom, you can easily pick one up from the postcard stand at the entrance and exit to the station forecourt. </strong>You’ll usually always find them there—so keep your eyes peeled!

More than just a beer coaster

The motif shows two Kölsch glasses clinking together—a symbol of friendship, solidarity, and genuine Cologne joie de vivre. But this lid can do more:

The pre-cut glasses can be easily pressed out. What remains is a stylish “Cologne frame” that allows you to redefine your perspective.

    How it works

    1. Press out the glasses
Carefully remove the pre-cut shapes – your frame is now ready.

    2. Select your motif
Hold the beer mat in front of your desired motif—whether it’s your table at the brewery, your friends, or a freshly tapped Kölsch.

    3. Take & share a photo
Simply take a photo through the opening with your smartphone and post your work on Instagram, Facebook, etc.
Tag us with @gaffelamdom – we will share the best photos in our story!

  • A Kölsch glass for eternity

    A Kölsch glass for eternity

Here at Gaffel am Dom, we have a Kölsch beer mug that never runs dry. It is not made of glass, but of solid bronze: heavy, durable, and unmistakably Cologne. The sculpture was created by Cologne-based sculptor Cornel Wachter, who has lived and worked in the southern part of the city for almost 60 years.

    A monument to cologne beer

Cornel Wachter is an avowed fan of Gaffel and Cologne’s brewery culture. His work has created a monument to Kölsch beer. While a real Kölsch glass empties and is repeatedly refilled with fresh beer, this one remains full for eternity.

It symbolizes Cologne’s zest for life, consistency, and the special status that Kölsch enjoys in our city.

    Art meets brewery culture

The sculpture is prominently displayed on the counter at the Trankgasse entrance. Anyone entering the bar can hardly miss it. But it is more than just an art object: it is part of a small ritual at Gaffel am Dom.

Because whoever touches the bronze bar has Cologne luck on their side.

With his Kölschstange, Cornel Wachter combines art, Cologne beer, and Cologne culture in his own unique way. Tradition and modernity come together here—with a wink. And that fits perfectly with us at Gaffel am Dom.
