Here at Gaffel am Dom, we have a K\u00f6lsch beer mug that never runs dry. It is not made of glass, but of solid bronze: heavy, durable, and unmistakably Cologne. The sculpture was created by Cologne-based sculptor Cornel Wachter, who has lived and worked in the southern part of the city for almost 60 years.<\/p>\n\n
Cornel Wachter is an avowed fan of Gaffel and Cologne’s brewery culture. His work has created a monument to K\u00f6lsch beer. While a real K\u00f6lsch glass empties and is repeatedly refilled with fresh beer, this one remains full for eternity.<\/p>\n\n
It symbolizes Cologne’s zest for life, consistency, and the special status that K\u00f6lsch enjoys in our city.<\/p>\n\n
The sculpture is prominently displayed on the counter at the Trankgasse entrance. Anyone entering the bar can hardly miss it. But it is more than just an art object: it is part of a small ritual at Gaffel am Dom.<\/p>\n\n
Because whoever touches the bronze bar has Cologne luck on their side.<\/p>\n\n
